Unlike my hobby, I am completely new to using a blog so I hope you will bear with me as I will be learning as I go along.
I enjoy collecting and restoring diecast models. My main interest is in Dinky models but I also have models from other manufacturers such as Corgi, Crescent, Charbens etc.. These are in my collection either because I have obtained them in a mixed batch when bought for a Dinky model or just because I like that particular model.
Most of my collection is what most people would only consider as being fit for the junk heap with paint missing (or sometimes added), parts missing, mis-shapen or damaged etc.
I enjoy stripping the model down into it's many components and cleaning, repairing and re-painting.
Once reassembled the models are in good enough condition to display, often looking as if they are brand new.
On occasions (only on the very common models) I change the appearance from how the original looked by the manufacturer by changing the colour scheme or adding or removing various bits to turn the basic model into something completely different.
In the diecast fraternity this is known as a 'Code 3' model.
With this blog I hope to be able to show some of these models as I acquire them and describe the on-going work in restoring or converting them as I go along.
I have had a website for a number of years in which I show my full collection of models with 'before' & 'after' photos.
The website also has various sections that describe the various restoration processes with guides such as 'How to restore a Basic Model' and other more specific guides such as 'How to Restore the Corgi James Bond Aston Martin DB5'
This blog will operate in conjunction with the website so if you would like to see more of my collection please feel free to visit at -
